Most foreigners have heralded the Philippines as a country with great hospitality. Our tourism industry, although can be better, thrives sometimes on the simple premise that our people go the extra mile to serve tourists and make sure that they have a nice time in any of our 7101 islands.

BAGOONG CLUB is not a high class expensive restaurant. In fact for those who have tried it, it actually is very reasonable. However, I have rarely gotten the kind of service we received from BAGOONG CLUB even from very expensive establishments.

If you live within Metro Manila, you know how frustrating and disappointing it is to get a cab, especially during rush hours. What’s more infuriating are the people who drive them. It’s very rare that someone tells me a good story when they ride a cab.

A fresh face in the restaurant scene recently opened in the Food Alley of the Ortigas Home depot strip – Berting’s Grill. With very simple designs and fixtures, Berting’s draw is not the ambiance but the good food and drinks – and of course the company. Its specialty is LECHON MANOK freshly grilled instead of the usual roasted method. They also have the usual fare of fried tilapia and liempo.

I’ve recently been introduced to Panciteria Lido located at the Capital Towers along E. Rodriguez in New Manila. The name sounded familiar and true enough, it was one of those restaurants that my family went to in Binondo, Manila. Since 1936, this establishment has been serving customers their famous Pugon Roasted Asado and an assortment of Chinese dishes.

I have always enjoyed eating at Pepper Lunch whether at the Power Plant Mall (Rockwell) or at Edsa Shangrila. But I always knew that their “order at the counter” style will be a cause of a lot of problems.

Today I had to take a cab going to a meeting since the car was unavailable. In as much as I would like to pick the newest cab, you just can’t pick when you are rushing to a meeting and not know whether you’ll get an available one in the next few minutes. I would normally lower my expectations when taking a cab due to previous experience but this is against everything I believe in when it comes to customer service.

It’s that time of the year again when we reflect on and honor the working class. Less than two weeks before May 10 and election fever is getting hotter than El Niño. I’d like to share my hubby’s thoughts on the upcoming elections. The way I see it, the government is serving the public interest and in this case the citizens are the customers of people in office.

Globe Tattoo. A “cool” USB stick that promises to get anyone connected. Formerly branded as Globe Visibility, I was among the first who subscribed to it way back when they only had the PhP 2,000 unlimited plan. Am I still using it? No. I personally had a tough time trying to disconnect it because I signed a two year contract. So, despite of the continuous cursing at different business centers, I had to waste PhP 2,000 every month for a crappy connection and service.
