It was an ordinary and lazy afternoon. My husband and I went to TriNoma to relax and check out the mall. Soon enough hunger set in and we decided to drop by at Recipes. We were greeted by one of their waiters and escorted us to a table and gave the menu. He had a pleasant smile and patiently waited for our orders. He suggested a vegetable dish and gave our orders to their kitchen.
It sounds like an ordinary story so what makes it a remarkable story?
Doods, our waiter, apart from having a great smile, looked very pleased with his job. It was obvious that he was enjoying every minute of it. His energy was infectious. He made sure our short visit was a pleasant one. He made sure we had water. He asked us if our food was satisfactory and if we needed anything else. He took care of other customers with the same level of service. He started a conversation with us and it didn’t feel it was “something he had to do”. If it weren’t for the uniform, I would’ve thought he was the owner of the place. He has been working for Recipes for years and he doesn’t look bored or tired at all.
The difference is sincerity and commitment.
I’ve been to a lot of restaurants and establishments and it is rare to find a gem like Doods. He epitomizes what customer service should be. A role model. I’m hoping that his employer recognizes him for his efforts and others follow suit.
