News of the oil leak at the West Tower in Makati has led its residents, the government, and First Philippine Industrial Corporation (FPIC) take action to address the problem. The priority was to clear the basement of water and oil, and determine whether it is safe for its residents to go back to their homes.
Safety. That was the priority. As we expect the government to take steps into resolving the issue and identify the source of the leak, FPIC didn’t hesitate to deploy their team into the scene. Normally, a private company wouldn’t respond unless it is asked to do so. FPIC went above and beyond. Instead of being passive, knowing that their pipeline is intact and was sure that it wasn’t the source of the leak, they still took the necessary steps to start the excavation, all for safety. Despite proving that their pipelines are free of damage, the government asked FPIC to dig further. With no questions asked, they pursued to doing such.
Because of their diligence and high regard for safety, it being its core value, FPIC has been cleared by Makati officials as the source of the leak.
Kudos to its management and how well they responded to the situation.
