Customer service has always been seen as something expected from businesses and experienced by consumers. More often, it is tied to external or internal clients. How about customer service meant to support a cause?

Non-profit organizations that implement programs that help individuals or a group of people is customer service in its purest form. The fact that a group of people would allocate time and energy to go that extra mile to make any program successful means they are genuine in getting their customers satisfied.

One particular organization, Kythe Foundation, has decided to cater to children with cancer. They are their customers. Their slogan? “Because children should be flying kites, not fighting cancer.” Their customers expect no less and they’ve fulfilled the children’s expectations through several programs and events to support this cause.

The smile of a child when Kythe volunteers help with entertainment and education is priceless. The beauty of customer service for this children is that it extends to their parents, relatives and friends. Again, it is in its purest form.

The thought of a child having cancer is unimaginable. No one wants this to happen to any kid, more so, if it happens in the family. I don’t personally know a child who has cancer but my husband has a friend who does. His friend is a grown man but the stories that he has told me brought tears to my eyes. He is a stranger to me but hearing him say he has lost hope and isn’t the same man just pains me even more, thinking a child would need to endure the same pain and struggle.

There should always be hope and happiness, despite the hard journey.

I’d like to reach out to my readers, who, like me is passionate about customer service to give back, in its purest form. Support the Kythe Child Life Program. It’s not hard work. There are no complaint forms to fill up or processes to fix. It only takes a few minutes of your time and a commitment to spread some real love to these kids.

Support by going to the Real Love Facebook page and show it by liking the page. The more people, the faster it can grow and spread the cause to others who would like to help. Feel free to share it to friends and family. There is no limit to spreading some love. Unilever Foodsolutions will then donate sandwiches to different Kythe partner hospitals for every 1000 likes.

Team Manila has designed a limited edition shirt for this campaign and is selling it exclusively in their outlets in Rockwell, SM MOA, Trinoma and on their website. Buy a shirt or two to spread your love to these children to help Kythe continue their operations.

Would you like to win a limited edition Real Love shirt?

I’m holding a week long contest to anyone within the Philippines that will earn you just that.

Simply complete this sentence: “I will share my love to the kids of Kythe by ______________.”

Post your answer through the Philippine Customer Service Facebook page and remember to tag the Real Love Facebook page on your post. This will help spread the word amongst other customer service advocates. The best answer will win the shirt. Deadline to place your posts is on October 9, 2010.

Thank you to Janette Toral, who has one of the biggest hearts, being the one who shared this campaign and have asked me to help out in this project. I gladly accepted.

Start spreading the love!

UPDATE: Winner has been announced! Congratulations and thank you to everyone who joined!
